About This Calculator
Our Mission
Military compensation is complicated — base pay, BAH, BAS, special pays, tax advantages, and the Blended Retirement System all interact in ways that most pay calculators gloss over. We built this tool to give servicemembers, veterans, and military families a clear, accurate picture of their total compensation. No ads buried in the numbers. No paywalls. Just the data, updated within 48 hours of every official DoD pay table release.
Who Built This
Military Pay Calculator is built and maintained by Tony Reaves II, founder of Toota Industries. Tony is a defense industry operator and government contractor who works directly with the Defense Logistics Agency and understands military compensation from both sides — as a contractor supporting the DoD and as someone who helps servicemembers navigate their financial options. This calculator reflects real-world knowledge of how military pay, allowances, and benefits actually work, not just what the pay tables say.
Tony built this tool because he saw too many junior enlisted and NCOs making career decisions — reenlistment, separation, civilian job offers — without understanding the full value of their military compensation package. The tax-free BAH alone can be worth $20,000-35,000/year in civilian-equivalent salary, and most calculators don't show that number. This one does.
How It Works
The calculator uses official 2026 DoD pay tables with the 3.8% across-the-board increase, latest BAH rates from the Defense Travel Management Office (4.2% average increase), BAS rates ($476.95 enlisted / $328.48 officer), and all special pays as published in DoD FMR Volume 7A. It accounts for the tax-free status of BAH and BAS, federal income tax using 2026 brackets, FICA, and state tax where applicable. The civilian equivalent salary calculation shows you exactly what a civilian employer would need to offer to match your total military compensation — including the value of tax-free allowances and Tricare health coverage.
2026 Updates
Updated with FY2026 NDAA pay changes: 3.8% base pay raise, 4.2% BAH increase, 2.4% BAS increase, Warrior Dividend payment, updated 2026 federal tax brackets, and the latest BAH rate tables by ZIP code.
