Editorial Policy
Military pay is a your-money topic: bad numbers can cost a service member real dollars. This page explains how content on Military Pay Calculator is produced, verified, and kept current.
Who writes our content
Every guide is written and maintained by Tony Reaves II, founder of Toota Industries and a defense industry contractor working with the Defense Logistics Agency. We do not publish anonymous or unattributed articles.
Sources we use
All pay figures are drawn from primary, official sources:
- Base pay tables — Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)
- BAH rates — Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO)
- BAS rates and the annual raise — the National Defense Authorization Act (Congress.gov)
- Special and incentive pays — DoD Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A
- Tax figures — the IRS and the Social Security Administration
We link to primary sources in our articles so readers can verify every number themselves.
How we keep content current
- The calculator and pay tables are updated within 48 hours of an official DoD pay table release.
- Articles are reviewed when rates change (annual pay raise, BAH/BAS updates) and corrected as needed.
- When we consolidate or retire outdated articles, old URLs permanently redirect to the current guide on that topic.
